I'm Lyn Collie - a storyteller with a big bag of tricks. Let me help you figure out what you need to say and help you say it
Writer | producer | web designer | teacher
At Craft Media Workshop I help creatives and change-makers find an audience online. Web design, video production, copy-writing and on-page SEO are all tools at my disposal. I have experience in quality assurance, development of engaging user experiences and assisting businesses to extend their reach. Screen-capture, image editing and many content management systems are all familiar.
More than a decade producing independent documentary means I know how to get things done. My feature There Once was an Island, funded through The New Zealand Film Commission and America's PBS, was internationally distributed and acclaimed, and other work has also screened across the world. With my business co-founder at On the Level Productions, I created an online presence and outreach for There Once was an Island, leading to sales that outstripped expectation. Experienced as a camera operator and offline editor, I'm also conversant with managing video and audio post workflows.
I've edited and created online content for nzherald.co.nz, P3 Foundation and internally at the University of Auckland Business School, significantly increasing the profile and effectiveness of its Innovative Learning and Teaching unit. After 10 years producing content in the tertiary sector, I'm across communication for education and online course design.
For seven years I taught video production to stage three students at the University of Auckland Business School, with excellent teaching evaluations. These experiences formed the basis of a multimedia guide to running effective video assignments, developed with a University of Auckland Learning Enhancement Grant and released in 2017. I've also researched and published academically.
I have a Masters in Documentary Directing, an Honours degree in Social Anthropology and a Certificate of Academic Practice. In my 'spare' time I write screenplays, do yoga badly and go for improving walks. I love meeting new people. You should probably get in touch!
