I'm Lyn Collie - a screenwriter specialising in action-comedy and fantasy-sci fi for TV

My screenplays explore the world we know through the lens of action-comedy and fantasy-sci fi. Spies, werewolves, using a spatula to clean blood off a wall - it’s all in the mix.

I'm a contributing member of Auckland Table Reads and Auckland Writers Room, started by WGA writer Keren Green and an associate member of the New Zealand Writers Guild.

1/2 hour TV pilot - action comedy

An executive assistant with a failing marriage and a money-laundering rap takes a much-needed job as a PA for a slobby Brit - only to discover the Brit is an MI6 agent on someone’s shitlist. Forced to spy on the spy to avoid prosecution, the assistant is in deeper than she can handle. Both women must work out their demons and deliver on their promises in order to save themselves, each other, and, just maybe, the world.

1-hour TV pilot - Fantasy

A young Kiwi working in the Black Forest must hunt a killer as she discovers her true identity and falls for a werewolf, all while preparing to face the ultimate struggle between good and evil.

Short - action comedy

An edgy waitress trying to avoid sexual assault, ends up killing her boss in a blood-soaked fight to the death involving the whole restaurant staff.

more about me

My writing has graced internal communications at the University of Auckland Business School and publicity materials for independent documentary.

I've previously published poetry, short stories, magazine pieces and academic articles.

At one time, I loaded news for nzherald.co.nz.

Before that, I wrote a sex-advice column in a student rag and a blog titled Grey Lynn Singles Club.

When I'm not hammering out a screenplay, I write web copy and design websites at craftmediaworkshop.com.

In other lives I have produced independent documentary, created video for education, and tutored students at Otago University, The University of Auckland and Massey University.  I was the worst waitress at every bar I ever worked.

I have a Masters in Documentary Directing, an Honours degree in Social Anthropology and a Certificate of Academic Practice. In my 'spare' time I lift weights, do yoga badly and watch TV, of course.

I love meeting new people. You should probably get in touch.
